Sammy Blais was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round of the 2014 NHL Draft after a standout junior career, including 35 points in 21 games with Levis and 82 points in 61 games with Victoriaville in the 2014-15 season.
He moved to the AHL with the Chicago Wolves in 2016-17, where he earned 43 points in 75 games and followed up with 40 points in 42 games the next season, setting the stage for his NHL debut.
During the 2018-19 season, Sammy Blais divided his time between the AHL's San Antonio and the St. Louis Blues, recording four points in 32 NHL games and contributing three points in 15 playoff games to help the Blues win their first Stanley Cup.
After two more seasons with St. Louis, he was traded to the New York Rangers on July 23, 2021. He returned to the Blues on February 9, 2023, in the trade involving
Vladimir Tarasenko and
Niko Mikkola and signed a one-year contract on March 2.
