The 20-year-old goalie, who played for the Prince George Cougars in the WHL the previous season, was hoping to make his debut in the American Hockey League. The team has chosen to send young players to the East Coast Hickey League in order to gain more experience and opportunities because of the AHL's crowded crease.
The native of Coaldale, Alberta, split the 2021-22 season between the Calgary Canucks (AJHL), who tied for second place in the league with a.918 save percentage and a 3.38 goals against average over 17 games played, and the Cougars, who finished with a 6-9-3 record, a 3.50 goals-against average, and a .899 save percentage in 23 games.
