Canucks goalie prospect Ty Young, will be sent down to the WHL Kalamazoo Wings as part of the Vancouver Canucks' roster move, the team announced today.

The 20-year-old goalie, who played for the Prince George Cougars in the WHL the previous season, was hoping to make his debut in the American Hockey League. The team has chosen to send young players to the East Coast Hickey League in order to gain more experience and opportunities because of the AHL's crowded crease.
The Canucks have reassigned goaltender Ty Young from the Abbottsford Canucks of the AHL to to the K-Wings.

The Young helped lead the Prince George Cougars Cougars to their best win total in franchise history last season!
Young played his whole WHL career with the Prince George Cougars after being selected 144th overall in the 2022 draft. He had a 44-35-8 record over four seasons, a 3.36 goals-against average, and a .896 save percentage. The Canucks currently have six goaltenders under contract, including Young, who signed his entry-level deal on September 25, 2023.
The native of Coaldale, Alberta, split the 2021-22 season between the Calgary Canucks (AJHL), who tied for second place in the league with a.918 save percentage and a 3.38 goals against average over 17 games played, and the Cougars, who finished with a 6-9-3 record, a 3.50 goals-against average, and a .899 save percentage in 23 games.
«Ty has made some improvements since we drafted him last year and we were pleased to see him play meaningful games in the WHL playoffs,» said Allvin. «He has good size and our goalie development team see a lot of potential in his game if he continues to put in the work and follow the plan we have put in place for him moving forward.»

Regretfully, he was demoted to the ECHL and has not yet appeared in a game for the Abbottsford Canucks. He can quickly regain his spot with the AHL team if he plays well.
