Patrik Allvin, general manager of the Vancouver Canucks, announced today that the team and forward Nils Höglander have reached an agreement.

Earlier today defenseman Erik Brannstrom was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks from the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday in exchange for defenseman Tucker Poolman.
«We were all impressed with the way Nils came into training camp and approached the preseason,» said Allvin. «His work ethic, tenacity and motor have helped him establish himself as an NHL player and we feel with our continued support and development he has a lot more room to grow both on and off the ice.»
The Canucks have announced extensions for notable players like Arturs Silovs, Filip Hronek, Elias Pettersson, and Tyler Myers over the past year. They then made a huge financial investment in free agency, signing players like Daniel Sprong, Danton Heinen, and Jake Debrusk.
In the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Höglander was chosen by Vancouver in the second round, 40th overall.
Höglander, 23, played in 80 games for the Canucks in the previous season, setting career highs in goals (24), points (36) and plus/minus rating (+23), while also recording 36 points (24-12-36), 51 penalty minutes, and a +23 plus/minus rating.
Furthermore, Höglander made his debut in the NHL playoffs, collecting two points (1-1-2) and two penalty minutes from 11 games.
The 5'9", 185-pound winger has played in 221 NHL games, all with Vancouver, and has scored 90 points (50-40-90) with 97 penalty minutes.
Höglander, a Bockträsk, Sweden native, has competed for his nation on multiple occasions, winning bronze in the IIHF U18 World Championship (2018) and gold in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge (2016).
