Major update emerges on Vancouver Canucks defenseman Guillaume Brisebois
Vancouver Canucks defenseman Guillaume Brisebois is optimistic about his return to the ice after a difficult 2023-24 season that saw him sidelined for nearly the entire year.
Brisebois, who missed almost all of last season due to a head injury sustained during training camp, recently updated fans on his progress. He navigated the turbulent 2022-23 season between Abbotsford and Vancouver, appearing in 17 games during the second half and earning praise from head coach Rick Tocchet for his consistent performance.
However, his season was also cut short due to injury. After enduring concussion-like symptoms that limited him to just eight AHL games late in the season, the 27-year-old defender is looking forward to competing in the 2024-25 training camp.
After a long summer of recovery and patience, along with the usual effort a player puts into offseason preparation, he's feeling back to form again.

"Really good, thanks. A good summer. It took a little bit to get back to normal, but then it ramped up a bit." Brisebois said.
When talking about being able play the game he loves, he added, "That's the mentality, yeah. This is so good. I'm so lucky."
Despite his enthusiasm, Brisebois faces stiff competition for a spot on the Canucks' roster. With new additions made by GM Patrik Allvin over the summer, the team has bolstered its blue line, making the path to the NHL lineup a challenging one for the Longueuil, Quebec native.
However, Brisebois' hard work and perseverance might earn him a spot, if not with the Canucks, then in Abbotsford, where he could start the season. Should he impress in camp or early in the AHL season, there's potential for him to make his way back to Vancouver's lineup.
Originally drafted by the Canucks in the third round of the 2015 NHL Draft, Brisebois has appeared in 27 NHL games, scoring one goal and two assists. While his NHL experience has been limited, the defenseman has shown flashes of potential in both the AHL and NHL.
Brisebois' road to recovery and his journey back to full health is certainly inspiring, and fans will be eager to see how he performs when the puck drops on the new season.
As training camp approaches, it's clear that Brisebois' determination and love for the game remain as strong as ever.
