Major development emerges on Brock Boeser's future with the Vancouver Canucks
In a surprising twist, TSN's Frankie Corrado revealed that Brock Boeser's tenure with the Vancouver Canucks hinges on his performance this upcoming season.
The Vancouver Canucks have emerged as formidable contenders in the NHL playoffs, advancing to the second round in the 2023-2024 season. A significant factor in their success has been 27-year-old forward Brock Boeser, who notched 40 goals and established himself among the league's premier power players.
"Brock Boeser has arguably been the most clutch skater in these playoffs thus far. Easily his best offensive season has been capped off by hitting the 40-goal mark thanks to a very strong shooting game & becoming one of the top PP forwards in the league. DAWG."
Yet, despite a career-best offensive season, the Vancouver Canucks appear hesitant. General manager Patrik Allvin has opted to delay contract negotiations with Brock Boeser until the conclusion of the upcoming season, contingent on his performance.
"According to Frankie Corrado of TSN, Brock Boeser's contract extension may not be a priority for them this summer, as they want to wait and see how he performs during the 2024-25 season."
Despite his standout season, the Vancouver Canucks will heavily rely on Boeser come October. He still has one year on his current contract, worth $6.65 million per season. The team hopes he can demonstrate that his performance last season was no mere fluke, paving the way for the extension he seeks.
"Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with right wing Brock Boeser on a 3-year contract worth 6.65 million per season."
