It's hardly surprising news, as TSN's Darren Dreger confirmed on Thursday that Elias Lindholm, forward for the Vancouver Canucks, won't return to the team. He will enter the market as an unrestricted free agent on Monday.
Lindholm's tenure with the Canucks was underwhelming, especially given the significant acquisition cost paid by Patrik Allvin earlier this year to bring in the former fifth-overall pick from the Calgary Flames.
Hailing from Boden, Sweden, Lindholm is expected to attract plenty of interest once free agency opens at 12 pm ET on Monday. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, one organization appears to be emerging as a potential frontrunner.
Last night, in an article on The Fourth Period, Pagnotta reported increasing speculation about the Boston Bruins' growing interest in Elias Lindholm.
Lindholm, aged 29, played 26 regular-season games for the Canucks, tallying 12 points (six goals, six assists), with four penalty minutes and a minus-six rating. He elevated his performance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, registering ten points (five goals, five assists) in 13 games.
As we await the free agent market on Monday, it seems the Boston Bruins have a strong opportunity to sign Elias Lindholm, a player they had pursued before his trade to Vancouver earlier this season.
