The Boston Bruins have made waves after letting go of Reid Dyck, their 2022 NHL draft pick, who was seen as one of the most promising goaltenders in the class.

Reid Dyck, drafted 183rd overall by the Boston Bruins in 2022, was highly regarded as a future star between the pipes. Standing at 6 foot 4, the 20-year-old goaltender was a key player for the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL last season.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Dyck never signed a contract with the Bruins, even though the team lost Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators this summer.

Despite the Bruins having unproven third-stringer Brandon Bussi in their ranks and Jeremy Swayman still without an extension, Boston chose to part ways with Dyck. This has raised eyebrows among fans and analysts alike.

Now, Dyck has found a new home with the Utah Hockey Club, a team that has recently emerged following the relocation of the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City under the ownership of Ryan Smith and the Smith Entertainment Group.

Boston Bruins choose Michael Di Pietro over Reid Dyck

The decision to let Dyck walk seems to favor Michael Di Pietro, another young Bruins goaltender prospect. Whether this move will prove to be the right one remains to be seen, especially considering the uncertainty surrounding the Bruins' goaltending situation with Swayman's future still in question.

For now, Reid Dyck is focused on making an impact with the Utah Hockey Club, and it will be interesting to see how his career develops from here.
