The Maple Leafs' injury bug continues to bite them, as forward William Nylander has now headed to the locker room following a knee to the head against Montreal.

While William Nylander was attempting to recover the puck on a forecheck during the Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens game, he appeared to be shoved by teammate Nick Robertson as he was skating up the ice. This resulted in Nylander falling and his head colliding with a Montreal Canadiens player's knee.
After the play, Nylander headed straight to the locker room and didn't come back to the bench before the half was over. Since then, the Leafs have disclosed that he won't be playing again. They did point out that Nylander is taking precautions, so maybe a worse-case scenario was avoided.
Nevertheless, Robertson's action can still be viewed as careless and pointless. While covering the game, Nick Kypreos adopted precisely that stance as he dissected the play. He referred to it as a "bush move" and "dumb." Additionally, he made the point that Robertson attempted to move his teammate ahead of him rather than simply working harder because he had effectively given up on the play himself.
It remains to be seen if this has an impact on Robertson's status with the Leafs. We can all be certain that he won't be attempting this move again anytime soon, though Craig Berube has undoubtedly already spoken to him about it.
Given that Nylander is one of the team's most vital players, any injuries that he causes himself would be extremely concerning for the group. They seem to have struck it lucky this time, but in a fast-paced game like hockey, anything can happen.
