Nick Robertson, who unintentionally injured William Nylander during a preseason game, finally spoke with the media in a recent interview.

The Maple Leafs triumphed in their first preseason game last night in front of their home crowd at Scotiabank Arena. Even without any of their best players, the visiting Montreal Canadiens brought a lot of energy and engaged the Leafs in fierce competition.
Nicholas Robertson's excellent playreading abilities and quickness allowed him to score the game-winning goal. Take a look at it:
Prior to Nick Robertson's game-winning goal in last night's preseason game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens, he was the one behind an odd play that resulted in Nylander being hit in the head and having to leave the game.
Nylander suffered an injury that required him to leave the game when Robertson tried to push him forward with his stick to help him gain speed on a backcheck. Nylander was not aware of this and fell.
'He called me after the game, I said I was all good, he scored. So it's all good. I just wasn't ready for it because it didn't feel like it was needed in that way, but I wasn't really ready for it, but it's okay.'
Robertson didn't feel well at all after the game, even though head coach Craig Berube said that Nylander's injury is "nothing to worry about."
"It's unfortunate, I was trying to give him a little boost there and it is what it is. I talked to him and he's doing good, we'll see how he is for the next few days."

Robertson needs to get better all around and in his communication with opponents if he wants to guarantee a spot on the Maple Leafs for the long run. Despite his obvious offensive skill, he still commits defensive errors that should be corrected, especially given the caliber of opposition.
Robertson eventually consented to the Leafs' $875K, one-year prove-it deal after delaying signing a contract. It's his chance to show whether he has what it takes to be a game-changer in the modern NHL.
The Maple Leafs and Canadiens square off again on Saturday night to resume preseason play.
