Mitch Marner's next contract predicted by analyst
Analysts have disclosed the expectations for Mitch Marner's upcoming contract extension, as he approaches pending unrestricted free agency in 2025.
This summer promises to be intriguing for Mitch Marner of the Toronto Maple Leafs, with swirling trade rumors adding to the anticipation.
Regardless of whether he remains a Maple Leaf going into training camp or not, the expectation remains unchanged: he will not be a member of the Maple Leafs by July 1st, 2025.
We now know what it will cost for the next Mitch Marner contract.
The Leafs and Brad Treliving face a difficult decision: whether to commit the Toronto native to a long-term extension or pursue a trade that could bring numerous future assets and potentially free up salary to strengthen other areas of their team.
"What if the people that love Mitch Marner, love Marner as a player at the salary he is making right now or less than that and not at the salary he is likely going to command in free agency which is somewhere between $11.5 and $13.25 because that's the Toronto salary that he's put himself in.
Could you see a scenario where a team trades for Marner and gives him an 8x$13M deal a year. Sam Reinhart's not even going to get that this season." Frank Seravalli reaffirms his stance on Mitch Marner:
"I think the Leafs are going to make a play and basically back him into a corner over the next three weeks, saying, 'Mitch, it's been great, but we're moving on. So whether it's now or eight months from now, your time's up.'"
