Tyler Bertuzzi is facing accusations of tampering after a phone call with Nick Foligno of the Blackhawks the day before free agency began.

After his stint with the Leafs, Tyler Bertuzzi opted to leave the team and sign elsewhere this offseason. The twist is that Chicago wasn't even on Bertuzzi's radar until he had a phone conversation with Nick Foligno.

Tyler Bertuzzi says the Blackhawks weren't on his radar until Nick Foligno called the day before free agency and let him know they were interested. Foligno basically an extension of the front office at this point.

The league maintains a strict stance against tampering, which many are now accusing Bertuzzi and Foligno of committing. However, it appears that commissioner Gary Bettman is not ready to take any action at this time.

How is @capfriendly reporting Sam Carrick and Tyler Bertuzzi have already signed with new teams? Doesn't that constitute tampering?

For Leafs fans wondering why Bertuzzi didn't re-sign with Toronto, the answer lies with Nick Foligno. Whether the league will ever tighten its rules on tampering remains uncertain, as this is not the first time fans have witnessed such incidents.
