The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to a poor start in 2024/25, and now some insiders have pondered the possibility of a Sidney Crosby to Toronto trade.

Over the past year, talk of Sidney Crosby potentially being traded by the Pittsburgh Penguins has picked up, and while GM Kyle Dubas has named him untouchable, the speculation simply won't go away.
Now while it appears no trade is imminent for the team, as they just acquired a player from the Predators in the form of Philip Tomasino, it's a very interesting talking point, one that has simply not gone away.
In the latest part of this speculation, several reporters with TSN have discussed the possibility of a trade to the Maple Leafs, and what it would look like to get 87 to Toronto.
Bryan Hayes: "Sidney Crosby to whoever. Tell me why this couldn't happen. If Dubas is so afraid to make a trade you need to fire him immediately, you can't have that type of management.

Nobody knows the Leafs better than Dubas and Wes Clark and face it every game gets uglier in Pitt, he lost 6-1 to the 'hockey club'."

This statement gets more true by the day, as every loss the Penguins suffer builds the pressure on Dubas and the front office to make a big move, and with the likes of Nashville and Colorado both in play as well, it would be a very interesting bidding war.
On the Toronto front, there were several interesting talking points, but this intriguing trade proposal might have been the most tempting of all, with Dubas hard pressed to turn down this type of offer.
McLennan: "If we're being hypothetical, I'll trade you Sidney Crosby and Tristan Jarry for Joseph Woll, Easton Cowan, a first, and a second first. It's a package that Tree may hang up the phone but Dubas won't be doing anyone any favors."
At this point in time, there's been no indication at all that Dubas would even listen on a trade, let alone with his former team the Toronto Maple Leafs, but if they come at him with a deal like this, it will at least make him consider the offer.
