The Pittsburgh Penguins are set to start the season off with their home opener tonight and their final roster is revealed for the game against the New York Rangers.

When the Penguins team reporter Michelle Crechiolo asked Sidney Crosby about this Penguins team and how the pre-season took shape, he used on word to sum it up, unique. The team had many players looking to make the big club to start the season.

«Typically, there might be a little less, there's one or two spots. This year's probably the most competitive - looking back at other years - that I've seen."
said the captain.

Today the Pittsburgh Penguins have announced their starting lineup rosters for the 2024-25 season as they get set to take on the NY Rangers at home.

Here is what is looking like the starting lineups for tonight.

Drew O'Connor-Sidney Crosby-Anthony Beauvillier
Michael Bunting-Evgeni Malkin-Rickard Rakell
Rutger McGroarty-Lars Eller-Jesse Puljujarvi
Kevin Hayes-Cody Glass-Noel Acciari
(Valtteri Puustinen)

Matt Grzelcyk-Kris Letang
Marcus Pettersson-Erik Karlsson
Ryan Graves-Jack St. Ivany
(Ryan Shea)

Tristian Jarry in net with Joel Blomqvist as his backup goaltender while Nedeljkovic remains week to week due to an due to an injury suffered in the pre-season.

The top line for the Penguins looks different than we have seen in a while as Crosby centers two forwards that may be a surprise pair to some. Drew O'Connor has earned his spot on the wing with Crosby and Anthony Beauvillier is making his debut on the top line for the Pens.

Beauvillier has skated with Sid all pre-season. His speed and how he is able to handle and capture the puck are reasons why he is earning his spot on the top line.

The second line with Bunting, Malkin and Rakell is hoping to continue their chemistry together.

With Erik Karlsson back in the lineup for the Penguins, he will be paired with a solid defenseman in Marcus Pettersson. This line could be considered as a D-line one B. The pairing is Grzelcyk paired with Kirs Letang. After playing all his career with the Bruins, Grzelcyk has worked well with Letang so far.

The excitement is building in the Steel City to see this team play in the first game of the season. Faceoff is set for 7pm EST.
