He hasn't played since giving up three goals on five shots against the Buffalo Sabres on October 16. Since the Penguins are currently on a four-game road trip through Western Canada, he was sent back to Pittsburgh on Thursday to complete some individual work.
Jarry has not participated in the AHL since the 2018-19 season, when he finished with a 23-23-3 record, a .915 save percentage, and a 2.66 goals-against average.
The Penguins have enough talent on their roster to take home a Stanley Cup. However, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and co are having much more difficulty and ongoing struggles defensively and in net.
Among the Penguins' three goalies thus far, Jarry and Alex Nedeljkovic have both been having some difficulties. Thankfully, Joel Blomqvist, who was still quite young, was given the majority of the work and displayed hints of his extraordinary talent. Blomqvist, who is only 22 years old, has the best stats of any Penguins goalie, with a 3.34 GAA and a.911 SV%.
Don't be shocked to see Blomqvist receiving an even greater workload and a genuine chance to establish his reputation in the NHL after Jarry was sent down to the AHL. Jarry will attempt to improve his skills in order to return to the NHL as quickly as possible.
Tonight at 10:00 PM ET, the Penguins play the Vancouver Canucks in the second half of their back-to-back games.
