Penguins journalist Dan Kingerski has linked Colorado Avalanche pending UFA Jonathan Drouin to the PIttsburgh Penguins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will most definitely be in the market for a new winger to play with captain Sidney Crosby going into next season. Colorado Avalanche forward Jonathan Drouin could be a solid option for them.
Drouin, repeatedly said how he enjoyed his time in Colorado, however after a fifty point season with the Avalanche, it appears that he may be due for a pay raise that may not fit the cards for GM Chris MacFarland and the Avalanche.
Here's a quote by reported Dan Kingerski on Jonathan Drouin and what he can bring to the table for Crosby and the Penguins:
«If there's a player on the market who could come close to Guentzel, it's Drouin. However, the playmaking winger has yet to fully tap into his talent over his ten-year career.

After overcoming personal issues, he had a good season with the Colorado Avalanche and his friend Nathan MacKinnon, scoring 18 goals and setting career highs with 37 assists and 56 points. Drouin, 29, is expected to sign a new contract worth about $5 million for four years.» - Dan Kingerski

«His defensive work has also been recognized, for Jonathan. Drouin would represent a continuation of the Penguins' skill and talent, but at a lower cost, leaving more money for other needs.» - Dan Kingerski

The possibility of Jonathan Drouin remaining an Avalanche remains big as he has a close relationship with star forward Nathan Mackinnon, however he would have to be very lenient and may have to take a pay cut if he really believes in the plan in the rocky state.
