Like all NHL teams, the New York Rangers are having a great time on Halloween, but Vincent Trocheck has received a lot of criticism for his controversial costume.

Many NHL teams have chosen to celebrate Halloween, which falls on Thursday, with parties and spectacular costumes, but it seems like there is always at least one team that causes trouble. This season, it seems to be Vincent Trochek, whose wife uploaded their costume to Instagram. Although it has since been removed, social media has been flooded with major criticism.
What is the costume you may ask? Trocheck, along with his spouse Hilary, attended a team event dressed as the Menendez Brothers, Erik and Lyle, who were the focus of the well-known Netflix documentary series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Not surprisingly, given their story's crimes, Trochek is receiving criticism for the ruling. Reporter Andrew Berkshire is among the many prominent figures in the media who have commented on this.
Social media users claim that the Rangers star realized how foolish it was to go out in this attire and post it on social media, which is why the post has since been removed from Instagram.
It's unclear if Trocheck will be disciplined by his team or the NHL for wearing the divisive costume, and although social media criticism rarely materializes in real life, it's safe to assume that he will likely be the target of a lot of animosity from rival supporters going forward.
