The New York Islanders are making significant changes this off-season. GM Lou Lamoriello has confirmed that two players are set to leave the team as the Islanders aim for a deeper Stanley Cup run.

After a disappointing end to their season with a 4-1 playoff loss against the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Islanders fans have been calling for a shake-up.
It looks like Lou Lamoriello is prepared to answer those calls. In a recent interview with the New York Post, Lamoriello announced that the team would be parting ways with two veteran players.
"We'll probably be moving on,» Lamoriello told The Post. «That isn't saying things can't change. We're talking about two veterans, two quality individuals. Two team leaders and two real good hockey players, so we'll have to see how things come about. But we haven't changed our thought process today any different than the last time we spoke."

The two players in question are Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin, who have each spent over a decade with the Islanders. Despite their long tenure, their recent performance hasn't been up to par.
Both players, now over 30, have struggled to maintain significant point production, failing to exceed 20 points per season over the past five years.
As the Islanders look to compete in the fast-paced modern NHL, these changes are aimed at enhancing their roster's speed and skill.
With Anthony Duclair joining a top line featuring Bo Horvat and Mat Barzal, the team is poised to make a significant impact in the 2024-25 season.
