Just hours after being traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Patrik Laine made his first public remarks as a Montreal Canadiens player.
In a blockbuster deal, the Canadiens acquired the former 2nd overall pick, sending young defenseman Jordan Harris to the Blue Jackets in exchange.

Asked if he thought he could return to his 30-goal seasons, Laine confidently suggested he could exceed those numbers. Reflecting on his time with the Winnipeg Jets, he recalled his standout 44-goal season and 70-point performance.
"I don't want to come back as a 30 goal scorer, I want to come back as a 40-50. I've done that previously, it's not by accident"
Laine expressed enthusiasm about playing in front of the Canadiens' passionate fanbase and shared his eagerness to regain his scoring touch.

"I'm still going to cherish my time in Columbus, yea it wasn't always easy... I loved being and living in Columbus, the people are great, people were awesome, the fans were passionate, there was definitely a lot, a lot of good times in Columbus"
Laine's stint in Columbus had its ups and downs, marked by injury struggles. Despite this, he had notable seasons, including strong performances in 2021-22 and 2022-23. Now, he looks forward to this fresh start with the Canadiens, aiming to return to his peak form.
