In the 2023-24 NHL season, Guhle appeared in 70 games for the Canadiens, scoring six goals and adding 16 assists. He also accumulated 56 penalty minutes. Among Canadiens players, the Edmonton native was second in blocked shots with 178 and third in average ice time at 20:51 (with a minimum of five games played).
At just 22 years old, Guhle reached a career milestone by playing his 100th NHL game on February 29 against the Florida Panthers. Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 201 pounds, the defenseman has accumulated 40 points (10 goals, 30 assists) over 114 games since his NHL debut in the 2022-23 season.
Guhle's talent extends beyond the NHL. He represented Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Championship, where he contributed five points (one goal, four assists) in nine games. Additionally, he earned a silver medal at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, registering two goals and an assist in seven games.
Selected by the Canadiens in the first round (16th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, Guhle's extension underscores his importance to the team's future. The new contract reflects the Canadiens' confidence in Guhle's continued growth and impact on their defensive lineup.
As Guhle continues to develop, the Canadiens are poised to benefit from his strong defensive play and offensive contributions, making this extension a significant move for Montreal's long-term plans.
