In a surprising turn of events, St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong has created a major dilemma for the Edmonton Oilers with offer sheets for two key players, Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg.

The latest news from Elliotte Friedman reveals the huge disparity between what these players originally asked for and the hefty offers they've now received.
On his show, 32 Thoughts the Podcast, insider Elliotte Friedman disclosed that Philip Broberg had requested a salary of $1.8 million, yet the Blues have offered him an eye-watering $4.5 million. Similarly, Dylan Holloway had been seeking $1.2 million but is now facing a $2.29 million offer from St. Louis. This unexpected escalation has left Oilers fans anxious about the potential loss of these promising players.
During his podcast, Friedman also highlighted that Edmonton had aimed to sign both Broberg and Holloway last season. However, Broberg was unwilling to discuss terms during the season and preferred to negotiate in the summer.
Additionally, the Blues had previously shown interest in these players at last year's trade deadline, but Edmonton opted to keep them. Now, with these aggressive offer sheets, the Blues are making another strong push.
The current dilemma is compounded by Edmonton's salary cap issues, making it challenging for them to match these offers. Historically, only two offer sheets have been successfully executed where the team did not match: Dustin Penner from Anaheim to Edmonton and Jesperi Kotkaniemi from Montreal to Carolina. Given the circumstances, it's likely that the Oilers might struggle to retain Broberg and Holloway.
