Connor McDavid, the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, skated for the first time since sustaining an ankle injury today. He spoke to the media following practice.

Connor McDavid appeared to sustain a serious lower-body injury during the Columbus Blue Jackets game last week. Ivan Provorov of the Blue Jackets was knocked down and eventually left the game after an awkward collision with Connor McDavid.
It was revealed a few days later that Connor McDavid would be sidelined for at least two to three weeks due to a lower-body injury. Only a week later, Connor McDavid was spotted skating with the Edmonton Oilers again today.
Before the Oilers' game against the New Jersey Devils, the center and captain did an optional morning skate at Rogers Place.
Connor McDavid did wind up answering questions from the media following the skate. There, he talked about his injury, how it felt, and when he might be able to rejoin the Edmonton Oilers.
«It feels pretty good,» McDavid said. «Not too much limiting me on the ice. I'm happy with how it feels.»

«When it first happens, obviously you're concerned that it's maybe something a little more serious,» McDavid said. «But thankfully we got good news on it and I've been doing everything possible to make it feel better.
Connor McDavid is officially ahead of schedule after making his ice comeback for the Edmonton Oilers. He has been placed in a more daily role as of right now. It appears that he will have his first chance to make a comeback against the Vancouver Canucks. It will be up to the Oilers and Connor McDavid to decide whether or not it makes sense for everyone if he returns against the Canucks. With Connor McDavid sidelined, the Edmonton Oilers are still expected to follow Leon Draisaitl's example and continue to dominate as the team's star.
Although McDavid's return date is unknown, Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch expressed excitement about seeing one of his best players return to the ice.
