As training camp draws near, the Boston Bruins are still without their star goaltender, Jeremy Swayman.

The team is navigating a contract standstill with the young goalie, and head coach Jim Montgomery has addressed the situation.
Jeremy Swayman's journey from a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft to a key player for the Boston Bruins has been nothing short of impressive. His rise from Linus Ullmark's backup to the team's primary goaltender, following the trade of the 2023 Vezina Trophy winner, has demonstrated the Bruins' confidence in him. In a strategic move, the Bruins traded Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, acquiring a first-round pick, which was used to select 6-foot-7 centreman Dean Letourneau, and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.
Despite this show of faith, Swayman and the Bruins have yet to finalize a new contract as the season approaches. With both sides opting out of arbitration, the situation remains unresolved. However, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery remains optimistic.
Jim Montgomery has voiced his confidence in Swayman's readiness for the upcoming season.
«I don't have anything to do with the contract situation. That's not part of my job detail. My job is my connection with the players, and how we're going to be good this year. And I have no doubt Jeremy Swayman will be a Bruin at the start of camp, and we'll be ready to go,» Montgomery stated.

The Bruins are managing their cap space carefully, currently holding $8.64 million. This is after significant investments in players like Elias Lindholm (7 x $7.75 million) and Nikita Zadorov (6 x $5 million). With past stars like Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand no longer taking pay cuts to support the team, the Bruins are navigating a new financial landscape.

What's next for the Boston Bruins?

As the clock ticks towards training camp, the Bruins and Swayman are expected to resolve their contract issues. Fans and analysts alike are watching closely to see if Montgomery's confidence proves to be well-placed. The team's performance this season could hinge on Swayman's presence and readiness.
