A major scandal has emerged involving the Canadian Soccer Federation, potentially leading to Team Canada being stripped of their gold medals due to cheating allegations.

Coaching staff and contractors associated with both the Canadian men's and women's national soccer teams are reportedly implicated in a long-standing practice of espionage. The most significant controversy centers around the women's team during the 2021 Olympic tournament, where it was revealed that they filmed closed-door training sessions of their opponents.
Additionally, in July 2022, the women's team was found to have filmed Panama during their attempt to qualify for the Women's World Cup in Australia.
Canada's men's and women's soccer teams have relied on drones and spying for years, sources say

Coaching staff and contractors working with Canada's men's and women's national soccer teams have been engaged for years in efforts to film the closed-door training sessions of their opponents, including during the women's gold-medal winning Olympic tournament in 2021, sources told TSN.
The men's team is also implicated, with reports indicating that Canada used drones to record a U.S. training session prior to their game on November 15, 2019, in Florida, which Canada lost 4-1. Two years after the U.S. incident, a drone was spotted over Honduras' training session in Toronto, leading to concerns about being recorded.
FIFA is set to investigate these spying allegations, and if Canada is found guilty, they could be required to forfeit any medals they have won, including their gold.
