Former Toronto Marlies goaltender Dryden McKay has signed a new contract with the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League, the team announced today.

The announcement came through X this afternoon, disclosing that the club had reached an agreement with McKay on a one-year contract.
✍️ A new keeper in the crease! We've signed goaltender Dryden McKay for the 2024-25 season!
McKay played as a starter for the Leafs' ECHL affiliate, the Newfoundland Growlers, throughout last season. In 24 games, he posted a 3.33 goals-against-average, an .897 save percentage, and an 8-10-4 record.
During the 2022-23 season, McKay appeared in 33 games for the Growlers, showing improved overall stats and a strong 19-10-1 record. He also made two appearances with the Toronto Marlies, securing his first AHL win.
McKay's career highlight to date occurred in the 2021-22 season when he won the Hobey Baker Award, recognizing him as the best player in collegiate hockey. That remarkable season saw him achieve a .931 save percentage, an outstanding 1.31 goals-against-average, and an impressive 38-5-0 record.
Dryden McKay becomes the first goalie to Win the Hobey Baker since Ryan Miller, and he does it as an undrafted NHL free agent.
McKay faces slim odds of reaching the NHL, particularly given his stature at just 6 feet tall, which is considered short for a professional goaltender. However, at 26 years old, he remains determined to climb the ranks and defy expectations.
