New Penguins signing is set to be a major game-changer for the team
Blake Lizotte, the new Penguins forward, is set to energize Pittsburgh's lineup with his youthful dynamism.
Blake Lizotte joins the Pittsburgh Penguins, infusing the team with youthful energy and enthusiasm. Known for invigorating his squad, Lizotte's addition is already creating excitement.
«I think for me, I just bring a little more youth and some energy to kind of give a heartbeat or some life to games,» Lizotte said, having signed a two-year deal with the Penguins. «I tend to bring players into the game whether it be with tenacity, speed, forechecking, or whatever that might be.»
At 26 years old, Lizotte's path to the NHL has been unconventional. Standing 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds, he was an underdog who made an impact with the Fargo Force in the USHL, scoring 31 goals and 111 points in 110 games.
Lizotte reflected on his growth, «I realized internally, I had a chance to do something post-college. I really dedicated my time in junior and at St. Cloud to becoming a pro-ready player.»
His efforts during college at St. Cloud State, where he accumulated 22 goals, 47 assists, and 69 points in 76 games, caught the attention of the Los Angeles Kings. Lizotte's energy and intensity made him a valuable asset.
«I think if you look across the NHL, very few players can get away with just being a skill guy,» he noted. «I had to bring something extra, especially as an undersized player.»
With over 100 points in more than 300 NHL games, Lizotte and his wife Abby are excited about their move to Pittsburgh. «Believe it or not, we're excited to have snow again in our day-to-day,» he said, looking forward to the change.

Lizotte is enthusiastic about his role with the Penguins.
«It's a fresh start and clean slate with new people,» he said. «I think it'll re-energize my love for the game. I'm excited to get going when we get to Pittsburgh.»
Lizotte believes that the entire league recognizes the Penguins' true potential, noting that their performance has not reflected their capabilities in recent years. This potential was a major factor in his decision to join the team, and he's eager to start this new chapter.
Lizotte's arrival is expected to bring a renewed energy to the Penguins, potentially transforming their on-ice performance.
