Mark Giordano, the esteemed former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman, has made a bold declaration about his hockey future.
Veteran Mark Giordano plans to extend his NHL career despite advancing age.
At 40 years old and still an unrestricted free agent, Giordano is set on continuing his NHL career well into his 40s. This surprising announcement was recently confirmed by his agent in an interview with Kevin McGran of the Toronto Star.

Known for his impressive shot-blocking record, Giordano has been a stalwart in the league, though his last season with the Leafs was challenging. With only nine points in 46 games, his performance was below his usual standard. Despite this, Giordano remains optimistic about his capabilities and is eager to find a team where he can continue contributing.
Although no current rumors are suggesting where Giordano might land, it's conceivable that a team could offer him a professional tryout (PTO). This would allow a potential new team to assess his skills during training camp before committing to a contract.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs already well-stocked with defensemen, a return there could mean a more limited role for Giordano, potentially on a two-way contract that includes some time with the AHL's Toronto Marlies.
Throughout his career, Giordano has played 1,148 games and amassed 577 points. As he approaches these career milestones, he remains driven by the prospect of reaching both the 1,200-game and 600-point marks.
